This is actually a section of a completed watercolor that I am going to use to create a notecard. I read in an art book, once, how the artist would look for an interesting area within a painting he had made, crop that area, then create a whole new painting. He called it a painting within a painting.
Below is the original watercolor.
Seward, Alaska late spring. Snow is still on all the mountains, but the sun was rising on a crisp, spring morning in Seward Harbor. I always liked fishing boats having grown up around them in Northern California.
Impression Des Chutes Vernal (Vernal Falls, Yosemite). I painted this quick watercolor from a photo I saw and from my memories of climbing to the top of Vernal Falls in years passed. I liked the results of applying salt to the wet areas of the falling water.
