Below is the last painting I did for Summer 2025. It is a watercolor I started on location and finished at home. The subject matter is the Historical Palmer Train Depot in the town of Palmer, located in the Matanuska Valley of Alaska.
This is actually a section of a completed watercolor that I am going to use to create a notecard. I read in an art book, once, how the artist would look for an interesting area within a painting he had made, crop that area, then create a whole new painting. He called it a painting within a painting.
Seward, Alaska late spring. Snow is still on all the mountains, but the sun was rising on a crisp, spring morning in Seward Harbor. I always liked fishing boats having grown up around them in Northern California.
